Given the increased concern about value for money in the health care sector there is a growing literature in the economic evaluation of health care programmes. However, to date there are no texts that discuss in detail the methods used in cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, and cost-utility studies for those who want to undertake such studies or to assess study results critically. Methods for economic evaulation of health care programmes provides the reader with a wellequipped methodological tool-kit in order that he or she will be better prepared to tackle aspects of economic evaluation methodology.
