The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) is an international society organized to act as a scientific leader relevant to research in pharmacoeconomics, health outcomes assessment, and related issues of public policy. The Society represents health care researchers and practitioners including pharmacicsts, physicians, health economists, and other health care professionals involved in pharmacoeconomic analysis and health outcomes assessment.
The mission of ISPOR is to translate pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research into practice to mensure that society allocates scarce health care resources wisely, fairly, and efficiently.
The Society serves the public interest by the following means:
- Provides a global forum to facilitate the interchange of scientific knowledge in pharmacoeconomics and patient health outcomes
- Facilitates and encourages communication among its members and with other research and educational groups, the communications media, and the general public by educating public and private agencies on the need for research in pharmacoeconomic and patient outcomes assessment
- Acts as a global resource in forming public policy relevant to the pharmacoeconomics, health care outcomes assessment, and related issues of public concern
- Promotes the science of pharmacoeconomics by assisting its members and providing such services as may be appropriate to conduct pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research, to support research applications in clinical practice, and to support scholarship and educational activities
- Promotes cooperation and collaboration in pharmacoeconomics and outcomes assessment between all interested organizations, such as hospitals, managed care institutions, academis, health care providers, pharmaceutical companies, and government agencies
- Represents the science of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes assessment before public and private bodies by identifying important issues concerning specific health care interventions, developing and publishing scientifically-based input for policy decisions, and making results of studies of pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes publicly available
- Recognizes individual achievement in the field of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research, and
- Fosters career growth and the development of its members for the betterment of the public health.
